In the UK
FZY is proud to have chosen Grief Encounter as our 2019-20 UK charity partner.
Every year in the UK, around 44,000 children experience the death of a parent or a sibling. Without intervention these children and young people can develop serious mental health issues including depression, addiction, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. They’re more likely to experience financial difficulties, poor educational outcomes and criminality. Despite studies showing poor outcomes there is little statutory support available.
Grief Encounter exists to support children and young people following the death of a parent or sibling through a wide range of free, professional services, providing the right help, at the right time to help families cope with their Grief.
As a charity that relies entirely on voluntary donations, your donation will enable Grief Encounter to reach even more bereaved children and their families. A gift of £35 could provide a 1:1 counselling session for a bereaved child, offering professional support and coping mechanisms for dealing with a death of a parent or sibling.
