“My Turn!”

An anonymous Poem of strength and jewish identity

Being Jewish to me is having a heart that is not entirely your own.

I have a part to play, a future to be written,

The way I see, the way I feel, resembles a library to a soul that can't be re-written.

The echoes of thousands of years, ancestors rising from my soul.

Why me, I ask, because it's my turn to feel whole!

My Jewish identity knows no bounds,

Connected by an invisible thread, we lock out experiences together as if in one shared head.

One heart, one mind, much joy and care,

Yet sadness and fear remain part of our story,

As if the pain is all part of our glory.

To be Jewish is to find the joy anyway, anyhow!

We weather the storm and we appreciate the now.

Our ancestors stood strong and now must we,

Our gardens will grow and our families will heal.

I am so proud to be part of this on-going reel.

When I visit my country, my peace will restore,

For Israel, I know, is in my heart, my very core.

The pull becomes real, the sights the smells the experiences I've heard everyone tells...

I am lit, I am ready to embrace this challenge,

My place as a Jew is ready, in balance.

So let it begin, My story, My journey,

The glory I feel has not come too early.

I am worthy to take my place and set my own pace,

Who knows what I will face but it's time to embrace.

For I am a Jew and that much will always remain true!
