NETINA 2025

VOLUNTEER IN THAILAND

Make a difference.

Work alongside local schools, youth centers, and community events organised by NGOs, to support efforts to educate and empower Thai children.

FZY have partnered with Justifi, a social activism programme, to offer Netina – a 11-day programme in Thailand. Participants will be stepping into the heart of local culture, must see tourist sights and then off the beaten track to where tourists never go. The trip will be focused around FZY's core aim of Tzedakahand participants will spend time building, planting, painting and teaching English to kids and creating a lasting impact on the lives of all involved in that community.

Programme Components

    • Working alongside local schools, youth centres, and community events organised by NGOs, participants will support efforts to educate and empower Thai children.

    • These initiatives aim to create sustainable change by equipping individuals with knowledge and tools for a brighter future.

    • Participants will begin by learning about the pressing issues affecting communities in Thailand, gaining a deep understanding of the cultural, social, and economic contexts that make these challenges so significant.

    • Through this process, they will explore the moral dilemmas and complex realities faced by families in the region, fostering empathy and awareness.

    • Participants will spend time building, planting, painting, and teaching English to kids, creating a lasting impact on the lives of all involved in that community.

    • Before the trip commences, participants will be prepared for the trip by learning more about ethical volunteering. This will be done on a training day a few months before the trip.

    • During the trip, our FZY Madrichim (leaders) will be on the ground supporting our participants as well as running different activities and sessions throughout the programme.

    • On Shabbat, even in Thailand, participants will experience an FZY Shabbat with our madrichim and partners out there.

    • After the trip, we will bring participants together for a summary session to explore the values of tzedakah and think about what they can do next.

    • This trip is also about exploring Thailand and some of the amazing opportunities there are to do there.

    • The trip is split between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, briefly finishing in Chiang Rai.

    • See listed below an example of activities that could be included in this year's schedule:

      • Touring Bangkok by bike

      • Cliff jumping

      • Zip-lining and swimming

      • Visiting an ethical elephant sanctuary

      • Tuk-tuk adventure through Bangkok

      • Waterfall hikes

      • Riverboat on the Golden Triangle

      • Speedboats down the Kok River

    • The exact activities will be determined based on availability and climate at the time – the above are just a handful of examples of options we have.

WHO ARE JUSTIFI?

  • Justifi is a social activism programme rooted in Jewish values like Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) and Tzedakah(justice and charity). It empowers Jewish students and young professionals to engage in ethical, values-based service by connecting them with communities facing critical challenges. Through hands-on involvement and reflection, participants are inspired to become leaders committed to justice and solidarity.

  • Working closely with grassroots organisations, Justifi ensures its projects support existing community-led efforts. In Thailand, for example, participants collaborate with local groups fighting human trafficking. The programme prioritises mutual learning, cultural understanding, and long-term partnerships—ensuring that participants contribute meaningfully and respectfully to sustainable change.
