Szarvas Camp — We Are Changing the Jewish Future
Szarvas Camp is a 12-day international Jewish camp where campers from various countries come together to explore and celebrate their Jewish identity. The camp offers a diverse range of programs aimed at community building, learning, and fun. Lifelong friendships are formed here as participants discover the Jewish culture and traditions. This year Szarvas is hosting an FZY delegation! FZY will also be running a Shabbaton just for the FZY delegation the weekend before.
The camp offers numerous exciting and varied programs, including crafts, sports, music and dance activities, as well as opportunities to learn more about Jewish values, culture and traditions. Additionally, community programs, team-building games, discussions, group singing, and campfires are integral parts of camp life. Various projects, games, and competitions also add to the daily excitement.
These programs and many more opportunities await campers to help them learn new skills, make new friends, and gain a deeper understanding of their Jewish identity.
SAMPLE SCHEDULE
The camp uses informal Jewish education methods, incorporating interactive elements and the key aspects of 21st-century education. We present Judaism in a diverse and flexible way, offering choices and fostering personal and group relationships to strengthen each camper’s sense of belonging to the community. Through a wide range of fun and engaging programs, children and young people learn about themselves, the community, and Judaism while playing, laughing, and learning with ease.
During the 12-day sessions at Szarvas Camp, campers engage in a variety of programs designed to educate, entertain, and build community. Key activities include Peula, daily sessions led by madrichim/ot that foster education and community around the camp’s theme; Madrich Time, dedicated to group activities and discussions that strengthen personal growth and Jewish identity; Hora, Israeli dance sessions that enhance cultural connection and community spirit; and Singing, which deepens cultural ties through Hebrew songs. Other unique programs include Bibliodrama, where campers explore biblical stories through role-play, Art, offering creative expression tied to Jewish culture, and Sports, with activities like swimming, soccer, and tennis.
