How is The Programme Structured?

Participants live in Israel for nine months giving participants the opportunity to live independently and gain invaluable skills before they continue their journey into adulthood.

Participants have three semesters: The Tel Aviv Semester, The Jerusalem Semester and Zman Yachad. They also have the option to include different Add Ons to their Year Course to enhance their experience as well as opportunities for global trips

Tel Aviv Semester

Tel Aviv-Yafo is Israel's cultural capital, home to hi-tech, music and theatre, incredible food, beautiful beaches, and some of the most important sites in modern Israeli history. Our participants will spend their first semester here from the start of Year Course for four months.

During this semester, participants will pick between the internship/volunteering track, the Magen David Adom Track and the Marva IDF Track. Alongside this they will have Ulpan (Hebrew lessons) twice a week, a weekly day siyur (trip) somewhere in Israel learning and exploring, and time in small groups reflecting and framing the week.

There are optional Add Ons which will customise each participants experience to make it their own. Find out how this time can be customised to your own preferences.

Zman Yachad Semester

This is the time between the Tel Aviv and Jerusalem Semesters. Zman Yachad means “time together” in Hebrew and this portion of the year takes place between early January and February.

Zman Yachad allows chanichim from the whole programme (those who were located differently in Semester 1) to get to know one another and promote a sense of belonging in the Year Course community.

Programming during Zman Yachad can range from educational electives, global trips, to volunteering in the army and hiking in the Eilat Mountains. These few weeks provide experiences for the chanichim to deepen their understanding of various components of Israel.

Jerusalem Semester

Jerusalem is an educational semester in partnership with the Machon Institute. Students have access to a wide variety of courses meant to engage them in Jewish and Israeli topics, with a special emphasis on getting out into Jerusalem to meet the different communities, cultures, and religious streams that call the city home.

The semester combines field-based learning with classroom study promoting a development of leadership skills as well as academic knowledge in the areas of Jewish history and philosophy, and Israel. During this semester there will also be an educational and commemorative trip to Poland.
