What is it?

Machane is FZY’s popular and highly successful summer camp for 14 -15 year-olds (Year 9 -10 in England, Year 2-3 in Scotland). It’s your first step on the FZY journey and you’ll enjoy lots of new experiences, make new friends and get to know what FZY is all about. Machane has a varied programme of fun and educational activities.

Machane 2013 this year will take place in the amazing area of Lavaur, south of France. This year we bring you a new programme with different options and experiences and many elements only available at an FZY camp!

When is it?

28th July – 8th August 2013

Where is it?

Machane this year will be held in the beautiful area of Lavaur, in the Southern Regions of France. The surrounding small villages and rolling hills will provide a spectacular backdrop to our most exciting Machane to date.
As well as this, the site is situated near a beautiful lake, allowing us to have onsite water activities (facilitated by experienced staff).
The site is equipped with state of the art sport facilities, as well as large amounts of open space for our use and enjoyment. The modern site has clean and comfortable dorm style rooms and shower facilities.

Staff

Machane is planned, organised and lead by an experienced team of dedicated and enthusiastic madrichim (Leaders). All our leaders are part of the FZY family, who have been on FZY Tour, Year Course and other programmes and activities. There is a minimum of one madrich to every 5 participants and we uphold our belief that good staffing is crucial in providing a successful,
fun and enjoyable Machane.

Food

All food on FZY Machane is Kosher. We also cater for vegetarians, vegans
and any other special dietary requirements. We provide three full nutritious
meals a day and our menu is supervised by a nutritionist. We also offer a
variety of tasty snacks from our daily tuck shop.

Health & Welfare

FZY’s primary concern is the health and safety of our chanichim. There will be at least one qualified first-aider on site at all times and all chanichim will be registered with a local doctor for the duration of Machane. In addition, we have a comprehensive welfare framework, including a welfare officer on site at all time, and a counsellor on call for the duration of the programme, both ensuring the physical and emotional welfare of all our chanichim.

Activities

FZY Machane is also all about the activities and fun! By having a variety of exciting activities this summer, we are sure that Machane will be a memory that lasts forever. As tradition states, colour wars and our own Maccabiah sporting events will be present. Here are a selection of activities that will provide a time for you to go wild with your friends, learn teamwork skills and have a crazy summer.

Extra’s (Chuggim)

Our Extra’s will provide an opportunity to do specific activities that chanichim will find interesting throughout the whole of Machane. Giving everyone a chance to find something they want to do. Chanichim can choose from -

Arts and crafts, Photography, Journalism, Rikkud, Debate Club, Sports, Drama, Cookery, Film and Movie.
