How Amirim Works

The focus of the Amirim programme is interning / volunteering, which you will do four days a week.  To supplement this, you will get the opportunity to explore Israel on weekly trips.  The programme will provide you with an apartment where you will experience independent living with new friends from over the world.

Here is a sample schedule so you are able to understand a little more how your summer could look.

Where you will be based

Jerusalem

Jerusalem is among the most fascinating cities in the world.  It is home to many religions, cultures, and ethnicities.  It is home to a variety of great activities and sites to visit during your free time like art museums, theatres, gourmet restaurants, and so much more.  Amirim’s apartments are located in the Baka neighbourhood of Jerusalem which is a wonderful area with many shops, restaurants and cafés.  The apartments are also just a short walk away from the breathtaking sites of the Old City and the city centre’s nightlife.

Bat Yam (a suburb of Tel Aviv)

Bat Yam is a diverse, growing city located just outside Tel Aviv, the cultural centre of Israel.  As a participant on Amirim Bat Yam, you will join an urban community along the Mediterranean coast, which includes a boardwalk and many cafés.  In recent years, Bat Yam has been undergoing an urban renewal and renaissance.  You’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference through volunteering and interactions with the local community.

Tel Aviv

Internationally known as a vibrant city for nightlife, culture, and shopping, it is also considered one of the greenest cities in Israel.  The Amirim apartments are located in the hip Florentine neighbourhood.  Come live in the city recently ranked in top ten lists as “best beach city” and “most action-packed city” and is the city that many young Israelis are aspiring to get to.

Where you can Intern / Volunteer

During the programme, you will intern / volunteer four days per week, between five to eight hours a day in your area of interest.  We offer a variety of internships and volunteer options that address important issues in contemporary Israeli society. At the end of the program you’ll receive a certificate thanking you for your service.

Internship options include: marketing, medical and bio medical research, journalism, green energy, environment, fundraising and more!

Volunteer options include: work with children, human rights, special needs, animal welfare, co-existence, refugee centre and more!
