Kedma (16-18 year olds)

Kedma is the brand name FZY gives for the activities and programming for 16-18 year olds.  Mostly these are aimed at those who spent the summer on FZY Israel Tour, but the activities are generally opened up to anyone in the community of the appropriate age.

There are many options to chose from for 2016/17.  Read the information below to find our more details.  Please be aware that places are limited for each option.

After finishing a Kedma course, graduates of the programmes will proceed to take on leadership roles in the movement, roles in local weekly gatherings, organizing charity events, and eventually leading camps and Israel Tour.

Options for London

The Diller Teen Fellows

Preparing the next generation of Jewish leaders!  Brand new to the UK, FZY has teamed up with the Diller Teen Fellows to offer you this immersive leadership programme. This 15 month programme will allow participants to be a part of an international fellowship programme which will look fantastic on a CV.  Not only will it train participants to become leaders and Jewish educators, but it will also allow them to build lasting connections with Israelis and other Jews from around the world.  For more information on the Diller Teen Fellows programme click here.

The course involves regular meetings, Shabbatonim and a 3-week trip to Israel in the summer of 2017. The price for this course is £1,299 and there will be an interview process for this course.
Soulful Cooking at JW3

FZY have teamed up with JW3 to offer a truly delicious course for next year!  Over the course of 5 weeks, participants will come together to practice their culinary skills whilst learning about Jewish and Israeli food culture.  Not only will participants get to eat their creations, but they will also share some with a local homeless shelter, allowing participants to complete the FZY aims of Tzedakah (charity) and Tarbut (Israeli culture).

This course will cost £62.50 for the 5 weeks of cooking and is launching on 21st September 2016.
Hadracha (FZY Leadership course)

The Hadracha course will allow participants to develop your love for Israel, Judaism and Social Action, resulting in you becoming the next generation of FZY madrichim (leaders).

This course will cost £99 for the year and is launching on 19th September.
Sports Leadership: Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership with Maccabi

If someone is interested in developing their leadership skills outside of the traditional ‘Hadracha’ framework then this is the perfect course for them!  Following the success of the Maccabi GB endorsed Sports Tours, FZY have teamed up again with Maccabi GB to offer participants the opportunity to complete their community sports leadership award (level 2).  The course will require participants to complete 42 hours of training and 10 hours of volunteering.

This course is launching on the 22nd September with Maccabi GB and will cost £99 (snacks will be provided).
Israel Advocacy Course

This course offers a phenomenal insight into understanding the vital components to effectively and cohesively advocate for Israel. This educational course aims to ensure that participants are well equipped to deal with the most challenging scenarios through understanding the facts and learning how to best present themselves. Graduates of the course will one day use their newly found tools to build political bridges and engage in constructive dialogue.

This course is launching on the 19th September and will cost £99.

Options for Manchester and Leeds

Streetwise

This course considers the changing nature of society. Teenagers these days are growing up quicker than any other generation, and with that comes the difficulty of talking about certain ‘grey areas’. This course considers topics such as bullying, addiction, drugs, safe sex and cyber-bullying among others. A safe space will be created to ensure that these issues are addressed respectfully and sensitively.

This course launch date is TBC and will cost £70 for the year although please note that these costs cover food, staff and venue hire, Streetwise do not charge for their courses.

In addition to all of these regular activities FZY are very excited to be running a 3 week trip to Ghana in the summer of 2017. More information will be released in the near future, but applications for the trip will be open to anyone who completes a Kedma course this coming year.
