The Friends of FZY (FFZY) have once again teamed up with One to One to plan an amazing experience in Israel for FZY parents in 2011. This will be the ninth year we have trekked with One to One, over the years raising more than £200,000. As in the past, the money you raise will be split equally between the two UK registered charities who both share a love of Israel.
THE TREK -
From the Red Sea to Solomon’s Pillars 12th – 20th NOVEMBER 2011
REGISTRATION FEE: £425
MINIMUM SPONSORSHIP REQUIRED: £2,250 (to be split equally between the two charities after expenses)
The Negev is ranked as an ‘extreme desert’ and so presents some of the best desert trekking in the world. Upon leaving the civilisationof Eilat we immediately enter this harsh desertenvironment as the group heads for the mountains. The colours and shapes of the Eilat Mountains change dramatically from red, sharp, jagged ridges, to grey, granite summits; from pale, roundedlimestone plateaus, to sheer cliffs and even gorgesin multi-coloured layers of Nubian sandstone. It truly is a beautiful setting for a hike!

The challenging nature of the trek will only add to the enormous amount of strength and inspiration that can be drawn from this extraordinary wilderness. By the time we reach Solomon’s Pillars we’ll feel a unique sense of achievement having trekked over 115 km. With every step you take in this landscape, you will surely be sharing in the long and remarkable history and culture of your surroundings.

We will sleep out under the stars each night, telling stories and singing songs around camp fires. The camps are set up daily by a team of helpers who will also transfer our kit eachday to our new campsite, as well as preparing healthy lunches and delicious dinners.
