Hanhaga

Based in New York, Hanhaga is the brand new FZY programme for 17 year olds (year 12). FZY, with its American sister movement Young Judaea, is providing a three and a half week innovative and exciting programme for those looking for a summer that is different from anything they have ever experienced before.

Hanhaga participants will have the unique experience of becoming a part of an American Summer Camp, based at Young Judaea’s senior leadership camp Tel Yehuda (TY). TY is host to 500 13-18 year old American campers on its 150 acre site.

Hanhaga is a truly international programme with FZY participants being joined by Americans and Israelis. The focus of the programme will be leadership skills, social and political action and what it means to be an activist. They will even be given the opportunity to run activities for other campers at Tel Yehuda.

Everyday on Hanhaga will include activities designed to help the participant gain these enhanced leadership skills. This will include being educated by experts on a range of international issues and strengthening this knowledge by travelling to Washington DC to see the Capitol Building and the White House. There will also be a trip into New York City where participants will visit the United Nations and of course have time for the obligatory shopping!

Just as important to the programme is the TY experience and the incredible facilities available: including a ropes course, a brand new water sports centre, climbing walls, tennis courts, volleyball nets, football pitches, performing arts facilities and experts to help in every field. A day rafting will also be part of the Hanhaga programme. All participants will be fully registered campers at Tel Yehudah and benefit from all the facilities, staffing and insurance afforded to any participant.

For chanichim who want a chance to build their leadership skills, meet young Jews from the UK, US and Israel and be empowered and inspired to change the world; then this is the camp to be on!

Financial Assistance
FZY believes that financial ability should not prevent anyone from participating in our programmes. Confidential bursaries are available to help any participant in genuine need. To apply for a subsidy please indicate so on the booking form.

Cancellation
Cancellations made before 11th April 2008 will be returned minus a £75 administration fee. This date is the final date of cancellation, and no monies will be returned after this date.
